RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD RENAMING A PORTION OF SILLECT AVENUE
TO NORTH SILLECT AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of
Bakersfield, in accordance with the provisions of Section 34091.1
of the Government Code of California, held a public hearing on
January 22, 1987, on the proposed renaming of a portion of exist-
ing Sillect Avenue to North Sillect Avenue, notice of the time
and place of that hearing having been given at least ten (10)
calendar days before said hearing by publication in the
Bakersfield Californian, a local newspaper of general cir-
culation;
and
WHEREAS, that portion to be renamed
Arrow Street;
and
is located east of
WHEREAS, the above rename was determined not to be a
project as defined by California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
Guidelines (Section 15378) and is therefore exempt from the
requirements of CEQA;
and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, on January 22, 1987,
adopted Resolution No. 1-87, recommending approval of the name
change, based on the following findings:
The proposal will rename that portion of existing
Sillect Avenue east of Arrow Street to North Sillect
Avenue and number it as a north/south street.
2. The name change is supported by major property
owners..
3. The name change will accommodate most city-approved
addresses in the area.
The resultant separate street name and numbering
systems for (existing) Sillect and (proposed) North
Sillect Avenues will better conform to those of
existing surrounding streets.
5. The renaming will improve the efficiency of the 911
Emergency Response System in the area.
6. The renaming will not have any significant fiscal
impact on affected property owners or tenants.
No public comments or objections were received dur-
ing the public hearing before the Planning
Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
That portion of Sillect Avenue east of Arrow Street
shall be renamed "North Sillect Avenue" and shall be
renumbered as a north-south street; and
This street renaming and readdressing shall become
effective 30 days from the date of adoption of this
resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 11th day of February, 1987 by the
following vote:
