RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD MAKING FINDINGS AND AUTHORIZING THE
TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO PAY THE ASSESSMENT FOR THE
BAKERSFIELD CHRISTMAS PARADE.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield desires to pro-
mote a positive City image; and
WHEREAS, the annual Christmas Parade is a significant public
event which emphasizes community pride and cooperation and is in the
interest of the general public; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Christmas Parade Committee and the
Downtown Business Association paid for the costs of the parade; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield is supportive of
the Christmas Parade and desires to share a portion of these costs; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield has not assessed
any other organization or group for a parade and has taken action to amend
the ordinance requiring an assessment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
1. The above recitals, incorporated herein, are true and correct.
2. The City Council approves the transfer of $500.00 from
Council Contingency to Community Promotion, and authorizes payment to the
Bakersfield Christmas Parade Committee/Downtown Business Association of
that amount.

I HEREBY CERT£FY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on February 4, 1987 , by the following
