HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 14-87 tLESOLUTION NO. 14-87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD REFERENCING PREVAILING WAGE SCALE AND DIRECTING CALL FOR CONSTRUCTION BIDS. (ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 86-5) WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield, on the 4th day of February, 1987, adopted Resolution of Intention No. 1019 to order the construction of a sanitary sewer system, or as therein described, within an assessment district the exterior boundaries of which are described in said Resolution of Intention No. 1019 , said assessment district to be known as City of Bakersfield Assessment District No. 86-5; and WHEREAS, this Council directs the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications, invitations to bid and contract documents to construct said work; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to publish once a week, for two successive weeks in The Bakersfield Californian, a newspaper published and circulated in the City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, a notice inviting sealed proposals for the construction of said sanitary sewer system. The first publication shall be at least 14 days prior to the time fixed for opening bids. 2. Said sealed proposal or bids shall be delivered to the Purchasing Officer of the City of Bakersfield on or before 2:00 p.m. , on the 2nd day of March, 1987. Said time being not less than 14 days from the time of the first publication of said notice. Bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared on said day and hour. 3. The Council determines, in accordance with Sections 5254.5 and 10503.1 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, that in the event the contractor does not complete the work within the time limit specified in the contract or within such further time as the Council shall have authorized, the Contractor shall pay to the City liquidated damages in the sum of $200 per day for each and every calendar day's delay in completing the work or any portion thereof beyond the time prescribed. 4. In accordance with the determination of the Department of Industrial Relations of the State of California, copies of the prevailing rate of per diem wages are on file at the Department of Public Works of the City of Bakersfield and shall be made available to any interested party on request.
