RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION
OF AN APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL FUNDS TO
THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION
FOR ASSISTANCE IN EXPANDING SEWER PLANT
NUMBER THREE.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has experienced substantial
growth over the past years; and
WHEREAS, this growth has been concentrated in the Southwest portion
of Metropolitan Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, a substantial amount of growth has been commercial or
industrial in nature; and
WHEREAS, this growth and development has resulted in increased
demand on the areas infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, this growth and development requires expansion of public
facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) makes funds
available on a competitive basis to assist local government in improv-
ing public facilities to encourage economic development; and
WHEREAS, the Kern County overall Economic Development Program
board has placed top priority on this project in its rating of all
projects in the County; and
WHEREAS, a January deadline has been set by EDA for slabmission of
an application;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE:
The City Manager is authorized to submit in the name of the City
of Bakersfield an application to the Economic Development
Administration in the amount of $1.2 million to assist in the expan-
sion of Sewer Plant number three.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on 17th day of December , 1986, by
the following vote:
