Minutes of the Budget Workshop of the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, California, held in the Council Chambers of
City Hall at 5:15 p.m., May 24, 1989.
The meeting was called to order by Councilmember Ratty.
Present: Councilmembers DeMond, Ratty, Peterson (seated at 5:25
p.m.), Salvaggio
Absent: Mayor Medders, Councilmembers Smith, McDermott
City Manager Hawley provided background on the dates for
meetings scheduled to review the 1989-90 Budget.
OPERATING AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
BUDGET OVERVIEW.
John Stinson, Assistant to the City Manager, provided
information on the Budget formation, population growth and
reviewed the Budget Summary for FY 1989-90. He stated that the
total Budget for FY 1989-90 is $135,825,479.
Upon a motion by Councilmember Ratty, Council recessed
at 6:30 p.m. The meeting reconvened at 7:00 p.m.

$tinson reviewed the Major Budget issues and
DEPARTMENTAL BUDGETS REVIEW
Mr. Stinson reviewed each departmental budget.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the
Council, upon a motion by Counci~me,~,ber DeMond, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:10 p.m. /
