A RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
APPROVING THE PROJECT
KNOWN AS THE "ENTERPRISE
ZONE" (AB-514 EMPLOYMENT
AND ECONOMIC INCENTIVE ACT"
WHEREAS: the County of Kern and the City of Bakersfield have
jointly cooperated together in the preparation of an application to
the State of California Department of Commerce for designation of a
portion of Southeast Metropolitan Bakersfield AB-514 Employment and
Economic Incentive act Area; and
WHEREAS: the Citizens Advisory Council was convened by the
County and the City to provide advice concerning the design of the
"Enterprise Zone" Economic Development Strategy; and
WHEREAS: said AB-514 application includes therein a
Memorandum of Understanding between the County of Kern and the City of
Bakersifled which provides for the cooperative implementation of the
"Enterprise Zone" program once the State of California has designated
the Program Area; and
WHEREAS: said Memorandum of Understanding provides the means
for implementation of technical activities and negotiations which may
be necessary with the State of California in order to confirm the
designation; and
WHEREAS: a review of the Environmental Impact Report has been
completed; and
WHEREAS: this review has presented no information which would
justify a change in the City's support for the project;
NOW THEREFORE: the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
hereby approves and restates its support for the "Enterprise Zone"
project as outlined in the application submitted to the State in
November 1985.
