HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 122-01(14)RESOLUTION NO. ~. :B ;~ ' 0 1(~) AMENDMENT NO. t4 TO RESOLUTION NO. 122-01 APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE GENERAL SUPERVISORY, POLICE SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT UNITS AND ADOPTING SALARY SCHEDULE AND RELATED BENEFITS FOR ENGINEER III - WASTEWATER WHEREAS, Resolution No. 122-01 sets salaries and related benefits for employees of the General Supervisory, Police Supervisory and Management Units. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield that effective immediately following Council action, the Salary Schedule, a part of the Resolution No. 122-01 is hereby amended as follows: 1. Performs other work as required. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this class. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties: Develops and/or checks plans and specifications for major wastewater construction projects, including supervision in the drawing of plans, writing specifications, making preliminary construction plan layouts; supervise and evaluate staff; makes a variety of decisions requiring technical and professional knowledge of sanitary engineering principles, methods and techniques; and inspects construction work in progress and on completion. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: In addition to assisting the Wastewater Manager and Wastewater Superintendent in varied administrative and programmatic areas, this class has supervisory responsibility for the design and construction of wastewater capital projects. This class is distinguished from the division head and superintendent in that the latter have full management and administrative responsibility for the wastewater division. This position is distinguished from the Engineer II position in that the latter position does not have supervisory responsibilities while the Engineer III is in responsible charge and requires a professional engineering registration. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: principles and practices 0f civil and sanitary engineering; principles and practices of civil and sanitary engineering; modem methods and techniques as applied to the design and construction of various wastewater projects; the strength, properties, and uses of construction materials; principles of public administration; principles of supervision and management; public relations; and computer applications related to work. Ability to: perform technical research work; supervise and evaluate staff; advise on difficult wastewater engineering and treatment problems; develop accurate drawings and prepare technical specifications; make difficult mathematical calculations and keep neat CLASS TITLE: ENGINEER III - WASTEWATER 58300 and accurate notes; establish and maintain effective working relationships with regulators, contractors, engineers and the public. Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and three years of responsible professional engineering experience, including professional experience in municipal public works, wastewater or building construction activities; or an equivalent combination of training, certification and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties. Licenses or Certificates: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is required. Physical Conditions or Special Working Conditions: Standard office environment and working conditions; however, must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. May include nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to inspect and direct construction activities in the wastewater facilities and assist at wastewater facilities as needed.
