RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
IN SUPPORT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ADOPT-A-PARKWAY
PROGRAM FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE
KERN RIVER PARKWAY
WHEREAS, the Kern River Parkway provides many aesthetic benefits and
is a highly utilized recreational element in our community;
WHEREAS, the Adopt-a-Parkway Program will allow for both volunteer
and sponsor groups to assist with the beautification and clean up of the Kern River
Parkway;
WHEREAS, the Program will provide participants the opportunity to
promote civic responsibility and community pride;
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield will use the Adopt-a-Highway Program
as a model for the establishment of the Adopt-a-Parkway Program and will follow similar
guidelines and policies for administration of the Program;
WHEREAS, The Adopt-a-Parkway Program will allow the public to donate
materials, equipment for maintenance or enhancement of the Kern River Parkway and
save taxpayer dollars; and
WHEREAS, the volunteers will receive appropriate recognition for their
participation in the Adopt-a-Parkway Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of
the City of Bakersfield that the City Council supports the establishment of
an Adopt-a-Parkway Program to allow individuals, organizations, and
businesses to adopt a section of the Kern River Parkway for beautification
and clean-up purposes.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
