RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT TWO GRAFFITI TRUCKS CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WiTH BIDDING THERFOR AND PURCHASE THE TRUCKS FROM THREE WAY CHEVROLET IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $70,000. WHEREAS, City staff attempted to purchase two graffiti trucks through the bid process; and WHEREAS, only one bid was received which bid did not meet minimum specifications; and WHEREAS, staff has therefore determined that it must purchase two cab-over trucks that will allow adequate room for all necessary graffiti abatement tools and equipment and that said trucks must have as narrow a turning radius as possible in order to enhance maneuverability of the trucks; and WHEREAS, said two graffiti trucks, as described above, can only be reasonably obtained from Three Way Chevrolet. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above-recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The necessary equipment (trucks) can only be raasonably be obtained from one vendor because of the restricted availability of the type of truck needed. 3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding therefore, in accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. 4.
