FOR PLACEMENT ON THE BAKERSFIELD REGISTER OF HISTORIC
PLACES FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1811 20TM STREET

RESOLUTION APPROVING CULTURAL RESOURCE
DESIGNATION AND FOR PLACEMENT ON THE BAKERSFIELD
REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES FOR PROPERTY LOCATED
AT 1811 20TM STREET.
WHEREAS Glen Burroughs (OWNER) has applied to the Historic Preservation
Commission for designation of property located at 1811 20th Street as a Cultural Resource
pursuant to Bakersfield Municipal Code 15.72.070 and for placement on the Bakersfield
Register of the Historic Places; and
WHEREAS the Historic Preservation Commission received public testimony
regarding the evidence for or against the proposed designation and heard none against the
designation; and
WHEREAS the OWNER explained the history of the home and the history of the
site, and circulated photographs of the property; and
WHEREAS the Historic Preservation Commission, after consideration of the
application pursuant to the Bakersfield Municipal Code 15.72.060 found the property to be
qualified for and worthy of Cultural Resource Designation on February 15, 2005; and
WHEREAS the property referred to is situated in the City of Bakersfield, County of
Kern, and is described as follows:
LOTS 4, 5 AND THE WESTERLY TEN (10) FEET OF LOT 3 OF BLOCK
237 ASSESSORS MAP NO. 3-36 OF BAKERSFIELD, COUNTY OF KERN,
STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS the Historic Preservation Commission recommends the property to be
designated as a Cultural Resource and that it be placed on the Bakersfield Register of the
Historic Places and has made the following findings in support of the decision to
recommend designation of property as a cultural resource:
It exemplifies or reflects special elements of the City's, a community's, or
neighborhood's historical, cultural, social, economic, political, aesthetic,
engineering, architectural development; and
· It is identified with persons or events significant in local history; and
It embodies distinctive characteristics of style, type, period, or method of
construction, or is a valuable example of the use of indigenous materials or
craftsmanship; and
· Its unique location or singular physical characteristic(s) represents an established
and familiar visual feature of a neighborhood, community or the city.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield does hereby resolve
as follows:
That the property located at 1811 20th Street be designated as a Cultural
Resource of the City of Bakersfield; and further,
That the same property be placed upon the records of the Bakersfield
Register of Historic Places; and further
That the City Clerk will notice such designation be recorded with the County
Recorder within fifteen days after action of the City Council.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held o~AR 9 200~ , by
