A RESOLUTION OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
ADOPTING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
WHEREAS; the County of Kern and the City of Bakersfield have
jointly cooperated together in the preparation of an application to
the State of California Department of Commerce for designation of a
portion of Southeast Metropolitan Bakersfield AB-514 Employment and
Economic Incentive Act Area; and
WHEREAS; the Citizens advisory Council convened by the County
and the City to provide advice concerning the design of the
"Enterprise Zone" Economic Development Strategy; and
WHEREAS; said AB-514 application includes therein a Memorandum
of Understanding between the County of Kern and the City of
Bakersfield which provides for the cooperative implementation of the
"Enterprise Zone" program once the State of California has designated
the Program Area; and
WHEREAS; said Memorandum of Understanding provides the means
for implementation of technical activities and negotiations which may
be necessary with the State of California in order to confirm the
designation;
NOW THEREFORE; the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
hereby adopts the attached Memorandum of Understanding. Upon adoption
of a similar resolution by the County, this body directs that the City
Manger, acting as agent for the City of Bakersfield prepare the
Memorandum of Understanding for signature by the Mayor.
