A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
AND EXECUTION OF NECESSARY AGREEMENTS OR
DOCUMENTS FOR GRANT FUNDS THROUGH THE FAIR
HOUSING INITIATIVES PROGRAMS, FAIR HOUSING
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH INITIATIVE FROM THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS, funding for the Fair Housing Initiatives Programs, Fair Housing
Education and Outreach Initiative (EOI) has been made available pursuant to the U. S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has received the application package for the
EOI; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield desires to apply for and submit the
Application Package released March 21, 2005 by the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to statute, the Department is authorized to approve funding
allocations for the program, subject to the terms and conditions of the Notice of Funding
Availability (NOFA) and Program Guidelines, and Application Package.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Bakersfield hereby:
1. Authorizes the Mayor or City Manager, and his or her designee, to execute in
the name of the City of Bakersfield the Application Package, and all other documents
required by the Department for participation in the EOI.
2. Agrees the funds are to be used for marketing the Fair Housing Program,
including print and television media, training and workshops, and the development of a
complaint referral process where complaints can be referred to HUD. The City of
Bakersfield hereby agrees to use the funds for eligible marketing, training, education,
and complaint referral expenditures in the manner presented in the application as
approved by the Department and in accordance with the NOFA and Program Guidelines
and Application Package.
