A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING THE RATE SCHEDULE
APPLICABLE TO TOWING SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO
POLICE DISPATCH.
WHEREAS, Section 5.52.170 of the Bakersfield Municipal
Code requires that all charges for towing services in response to
police dispatch shall be made according to a rate schedule adopted
by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the present schedule adopted March 13, 1985,
allows towing services to add an extra charge for calls for serv-
ice received on holidays and between the hours of midnight and
8:00 a.m.; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to allow the billing of an extra
charge only when the towing service is required to release vehi-
cles or property at such hours.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Bakersfield
hereby resolves and adopts the following amended rate schedule
which shall be applicable to all permitees under Chapter 5.52 of
the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield:
RATE SCHEDULE
For the purposes of this rate schedule, the following
definitions shall apply:
1. Regular towing means the towing of any vehicle or
combination of vehicles in tandem, the gross vehicle rating of
which is less than 10,000 pounds.
2. Heavy duty towing means the towing of any vehicle or
combination of vehicles in tandem, the gross vehicle weight rating
of which is equal to or greater than 10,000 pounds.
3. Standby time means the time in excess of fifteen min-
utes that a tow truck operator is delayed from performing his
duties at the location where the vehicle is to be loaded and
removed, if the delay is due to circumstances not contributed to
by the negligence, misjudgment, incompetence, or carelessness of
the tow truck operator.
4. Service call charge means an extra charge allowed for
opening the business on holidays or between the hours of midnight
and 8:00 a.m. to release vehicles or property.
Regular Towing Service
All regular towing within a five-mile radius . $ 35.00
Each mile beyond five miles (refer to
Bakersfield City radius map) 2.50
Storage per day 4.00
Use of dollies 15.00
Setting overturned vehicle on wheels 15.00
Standby time 5.00
(For each fifteen minutes after the
first fifteen minutes.)
Service call charge 15.00
Heavy Duty Towing
All heavy duty towing within a five-mile
radius $70.00
Each mile beyond five-mile radius 5.00
Storage per day 8.00
Setting overturned vehicle on wheels 25.00
Winching 25.00
Standby time 10.00
(For each fifteen minutes after the
first fifteen minutes.)
Service call charge 15.00
