A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD RECOGNIZING THE TOXIC
WASTE DISPOSAL AT BUTTONWILLOW
WHEREAS, the State of California has contracted with Petroleum
Waste, Inc. for the disposal primarily of oil refining waste excavated
from the McColl toxic waste dump in Fullerton; and
WHEREAS, said excavated waste will be dumped at a site near
Buttonwillow, California; and
WHEREAS, the affect of the transport of such waste through
or near the City of Bakersfield cannot be evaluated from present information;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the State of California
consider any impact or affect on the City of Bakersfield as a result of
the transport of the excavated waste,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
That the City Council requests that the State of California
conduct the necessary evaluation to determine whether the transport of
the excavated waste from the McColl dumpsite could result in any impact
on the City of Bakersfield and its residents.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of ~a¥ ,
