A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD EXPRESSING ITS INTENTION TO DONATE AND
CONVEY TO COUNTY OF KERN CITY-OWNED PROPERTY AND
ABANDONED RIGHTS-OF-WAY IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY "Q"
STREET ON THE WEST, TRUXTUN AVENUE ON THE NORTH,
"S" STREET ON THE EAST, AND 16TH STREET ON THE
SOUTH TO COMPLETE SITE FOR NEW BEALE MEMORIAL
LIBRARY.
W~EREA$, the County of Kern ("County") is evaluating as a
potential site for the relocation of Beale Memorial Library ("the
project") property located between "Q" Street on the West, Truxtun
Avenue on the North, "S" Street on the East, and 16th Street on the
South ("the project site"); and
W~EREA$, the Council's Intergovernmental Relations Committee,
by its Report No. 1-85, recommended and, on April 24, 1985, this
Council approved in concept the project site; and
WNEREAS, the city owns approximately one-half block within the
project site and a portion of "R" Street and two alleys cross the
project site; and
W~EREAS, the city Engineer has preliminarily determined that
abandonment of such street and alley rights-of-way within the project
site would not interfere with traffic circulation or otherwise be
disadvantageous to the city,
NOW, T~EREFORE, BE
Bakersfield as follows:
provided all utilities are relocated.
IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Provided that the County acquires or contracts to acquire,
or contracts for the development of, the above-described site for the
relocation of the Beale Memorial Library within sixty (60) days from
the date of this resolution, it is the intent of the city Council to
cooperate with the County of Kern for the development of the site for
the Beale Memorial Library, upon satisfaction of all legal conditions
precedent.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the city of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 8th day of May ,
