RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AND
STRUCTURE COMPONENTS FOR CAMPUS PARK NORTH CANNOT
BE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND
AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH
BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $46,500.00.
WHEREAS, PlayWorld brand playground equipment has been installed in all
newer city parks; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department must replace, on a regular
basis, playground equipment that is outdated or has been vandalized; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department has standardized the
playground equipment with PlayWorld structures; and
WHEREAS, due to the need to successfully integrate new playground equipment
into the existing City system, the playground equipment can only be obtained from
PlayWorld; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined, and has recommended the
Council find that the City replace playground equipment with PlayWorld structures and
has recommended that this Council authorize dispensing with bidding requirements in
accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference.
2. The equipment can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of
the need to successfully integrate such equipment into the existing City
system.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding therefore and to
negotiate the purchase of playground equipment and related structures for
Campus Park North, not to exceed $46,500.00.
