RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN
TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT CAN BE
REASONABLY OBTAINED FROM ONLY ONE VENDOR,
ERICSSON BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS, INC., AND
AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE
WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, NOT TO EXCEED $190,000.00
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has need of a telephone system upgrade
to the existing City telephone system to integrate and interface with the Pacific Bell
Emergency 911 20-digit dialing plan; and
WHEREAS, the existing Convention Center telephone system is obsolete
and needs to be replaced; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Arena has need of a telephone system to
integrate with the existing City telephone system; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined, and has recommended
that this Council find, that the software and hardware can only be obtained from one
vendor, Ericsson Business Communications, Inc., because of the necessity to successfully
integrate the Bakersfield Arena and Pacific Bell Emergency 911 systems into the current
City telephone system, and has recommended that this Council authorize dispensing with
bidding therefore in accordance with Section 3.20.060 D of the Bakersfield Municipal
Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
The Council hereby finds that software and hardware can only be
obtained from one vendor because of the existing proprietary
equipment and because of the necessity to successfully integrate the
Bakersfield Arena into the City telephone system and authorizes the
Finance Director to dispense with bidding therefor, and to negotiate
the purchase of same, not to exceed $190,000.
