HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 11-98RESOLUTION NO. ]~ ~" 9 8 A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $18,000 (ASSET FORFEITURE FUNDS) TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OPERATING BUDGET IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO POLICE SERVICE DOGS. WHEREAS, the use of police service dogs for protection and drug detection is part of an approved canine program of the Bakersfield Police Department; and WHEREAS, asset forfeiture funds generated through narcotics detection, interdiction, suppression, and seizure are available for the purchase of police service dogs trained in both protection and narcotics detection; and WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Police Department currently has two police service dogs who by reason of age and deteriorating health must be replaced; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield that Nine Thousand Dollars ($18,000) in asset forfeiture funds is appropriated to the General Fund, Police Department operating budget for purchase and training of two replacement police service dogs for protection and narcotic detection. ..... ooooo ..... -- Page 1 of 2 Pages -- ORIG~NN I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on FEB ! 1 1~8 , by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmember DeMond, Carson, Smith, McDermott, Rowles, Sullivan, Salvaggio Noes: Councilmember Abstain: Councilmember Absent: Councilmember CITY CLERK AND EX OFFICl~./bf the Council of the City of Bakersfie'Td APPROVED By BOB PRICE' Mayor APPROVED AS TO FORM: JUDY K.
