Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, California, for the purpose of a Closed
Session held in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 5:15 p.m.,
March 9, 1988.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Payne.
City Clerk Williams called the roll as follows:
Present:
Mayor Payne.
Councilmembers
DeMond, Smith, Peterson,
McDermott, $alvaggio,
Childs (seated at 5:25)
Ratty (seated at 5:25)
Absent: None
quorum.
Mayor Payne stated for the record that there is a
CLOSED SESSION
1. Closed Session pursuant to Government Code
Section 54957 regarding Selection of
City Attorney.
Upon a motion by Council Member Demond the Council
recessed at 5:22 p.m. to go into closed session.
The Special Meeting for the purpose of a Closed Session
was reconvened at 11:00 p.m
Mayor Payne restated Councilmember Peterson's motion to
appoint Art Saalfield as the City Attorney, to remain at the
existing salary, Step B, of the salary range established by
Ordinance for the City Attorney's Office.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the
Council, upon a motion by Councilmember Demond, the meeting
adjourned at 11:05 p.m.
