A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD RECOGNIZING AN AREA
OF THIS CITY FOR ENTERPRISE ZONE
DESIGNATION
WHEREAS, legislation has been passed providing for
Enterprise Zone designation by the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
is desirous of jointly submitting an application with the County
of Kern for designation of an Enterprise Zone in the Bakersfield
Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, an area has been studied and determined
appropriate for such designation;
WHEREAS, the subject
area; and
WHEREAS, designation
and
area is an economically depressed
as an Enterprise Zone is
necessary in order to assist in attracting private sector
investment to the subject area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Bakersfield as follows:
The City Council recognizes an area in the southeast
portion of the City of Bakersfield, bounded by Brundage Lane,
Mount Vernon Avenue, the western boundary of the City's sewer
farm, East Pacheco Road and certain properties west of
Union Avenue as shown on Attachment "A", which meets the
criteria for Enterprise Zone designation and will be the area
for which such designation is sought.
