A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $23,000
ASSET FORFEITURE MONIES TO THE
PUBLIC WORKS OPERATING BUDGET
FOR THE MODIFICATION AND REPAIR OF
A PROPERTY STORAGE FACILITY
WHEREAS, the recent destruction of the old City Corporation Yard resulted in the
Bakersfield Police Department and the Public Works Department losing considerable
storage space. Specifically, the Bakersfield Police Department lost its space to store
seized property (i.e., evidence, lost or stolen property, property seized for safekeeping);
and
WHEREAS, to compensate for this loss of space, the City purchased the vacant
Baker Transfer and Storage Building located at 14~ and P Streets, with the intent of having
it shared equally between the Public Works Department and the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary to modify and repair the building so it will meet the
storage needs of the two departments; and
WHEREAS, asset forfeiture funds generated through narcotics detection,
interdiction, suppression, and seizure are available to cover the cost of construction, with
labor to be provided by the Public Works Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1 ) That twenty-three thousand dollars ($23,000) in asset forfeiture monies be
appropriated to the Public Works Operating Budget for the cost of modification and repair
of the building located at 14th and P Streets, Bakersfield, California, for its conversion to
a storage facility for the Bakersfield Police and Public Works Departments.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
