as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 19 'of Ordinance Fo. 92 New Series be
amended to read as follows: '."
Section 19.
(a) For e-very person, firm or COrporation ergaged in
the business of conducti~ a tneat'er s.t an. established place of
business, wholly within a permanent buildi~g~ co'nstracted for.
theatrical ·purposes, the license fee snail be as follows:
If for less tna~. one mon.tn, Ten Dollars ($10,00) per day;
if for one month, Twenty Dollars ($20,00) per monl~n; if for one
year or more· at the rate of Tnir.ty. Doll -ar..s (·$30.00) per quarter.
(b') For every person firm.or corporation engaged in..

(d) FOr every person, 'firm, association or corporation
owning, maintaining, conducting.'Q..r presentir6 a carnival in the
City .of Sskersfield, the ~olloWing license will be charged and
collected in advance: One hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) per day,
and an additional 'fee or charge of Twenty-five (825.00) dollars
per day for each and every separate snow, 'attraction, or exhibition
carried on by such person, firm, association. or corporatio.n con-
ducting sucn Carnival. Said fee of Twenty-five '(825.00) dollars
per day to cover each fer-ris wheel, merry-go-round, whip, or
.anyother ridin.~ devices. Said fee is also made to cover attrac'
tio'ns .su,m as 01d Plantation or any other number Of freaks or
attractions grouped ·under similar headings together. with all
dancing :~ows, negro minstrels, so-call'ed giri mows, and. other
similar s.ttra~tions carried by traveling Carnival Orginiza%ions.

· That Section 43 of Ordinance No. 92 New Series be
amended to read as follows:
SECTION 43. "
Every person, firm or corporation engaged in the pro-
lession of cniro.practic, osteopatn, dentist, occulist, physician
.and. surgeon, or physician or surgeon, or attorney at law in the
City of .~skersfield shall pay a license fee of.TWenty-five ($25.00)
dollars per .year.,. ..

son, firm or corporation maintains an office in the City of Bakers-'

NotA.t. rg in this section contained snall be deemed or
construed as applyirg to any pets'On e.n~eged in any of the profes~-
ions or occupations nereinbefore enumerated.,. solely as an employee
of any other· person, firm or corporation conductir~, ma.~A~irg or
carrying on such business, occupation or profession in the City
of Bakersfield.
T~e term "employee" as used ix this section shall mean
and include any person ergaged in any of tne professions or occupa-
tions nereinabove enumerated who may be required or directed by any
person, firm or. corporation, conductirg, managing or carryir~ on~
any .such. business, occupation or profession in tne City of Bakers-
field, in consideration of direct of indirect gain or profit,
to engag_e in any employment, or to go to work' or be at any time
in ~mny place of. employment.
The terms "business" and '~rOf~ssion" as .used. nerein
denote the occupation or callirg in wnicn a person, firm or
corporation is engs~S~ed for profit or to earn a livelinood.
SECTION 3-
That Ordinance ~vo..104 ~.ew Series entitled "An ordinance
amendir~:. Subdivision (d) of section 19 of 0rdinance ~?o. 92 Pew
Series, entitled "An 0rdina. nce re~ulatirE and imposir~ municipal
" licenses.; prescribirE now and by whom licenses'snell be obtained~
mak~n~ the violation hereof a misdemeanDr and prescribi~ a penalty
