PROCEERKNGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY OF BAKERS~.
FIELD AND REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 208

'~"~HEREAS, the City Council on the 18th day of December,
1923, receive a written petition ask'i'ng that the territory
described. in aaid petition be annexed to the City 'of Bakersfield;
A}~D WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield on the 24th day of December, 1923 pursuance to said
petition and in accordance with the Annexation Act of 1913,
did pass an ordinance being Ordinance No. 208 New Series of the
City of Bakersfield wherein and. ~'.hereby a special election was
called to be held on the 8th day of February, 1924, in the

territory referred to. and described in said petition and in said
ordinance it was ·provided for the holding of said special
election in accordance with said law .as to whether or not such
territory known. and designated as South Bakersfield District No.1
shall be annexed to the said City of Bakersfield and said ordi'.m-
ance further provided for the appointment of the officers of such
election and for the publication of said special elect·ion
notice;
-- AND WHEREAS, said ordinance provided that the.- ~ ....

of said notice in The Daily Midway Driller, a newspaper of
.general' circulation, printed and published outside of the City
of Bakersfield but in the County of ~ern, for ·four successive
weeks next succeeding said special election;
AND WHEREAS, in .the publication of said notice
certain errors have occurred and for which reason it is deemed
advisable by the City Council to abandon the proceedings taken
by this Council since the. fi ling of said petition and t.p. begin
anew the necessary steps for the calling of said special election
in pursuance to said'petition;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COErNCIL OF
THE CITY OF B~.~KERSFIRLD, as follows: '~'
That the-previous acts taken by this Council on
the 24th day of December, 192~, cal~ing and fixing the 5th day
of February, 1924 as the date for holding the special election
for the annexation to the City of Bakersfield that territory
designated in Ordinance No. 208 New Series adopted on the 24th
day of Decemb. er, 192~, as South. Bakersfield District No. 2, be.
and the same are hereby rescinded, vacated and set aside and
said Ordinance No. 208 New Series s.o adopted on the 24th day
of December, 192~, be and the same is hereby repealed and the
Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to discontinue the public~
tion of ·said. notice ca].ling sai~ special election nosy being
published in The Midway Driller, 'and all acts taken b.v the Clerk
and the Council be and the same are hereby vacated, rescinded
and 's.et aside and a~e declared of no force and effect.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance
was passed 'and adopted by the City Council' of the City of
Bakersfield at a regul'ar meeting held on 'the/ ay of January
