AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 248 ,
NEW SERIES OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDA!F, ED BY THTE CGINCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
Section 1. That 0rdi'~ance ~vo. 248, New Series of the City of Bakers-
field, be and the same is hereb.v amended to read as follows:
Section 55A. Ever~ Dsrson, f~rm or corDo~ati~n engaged
in the business, trade, calling or occupation of a building contract-
or, oainting contractor, cement contractor, interior decorating con-
tractor, plumbing contractor, plastering contractor, electrical con-
tractor, sheet metal contractor, and brick contractor, within the
qitv of Bakersfield, whether operating at a fixed place of business
within or without the City of Bakersfield 0r having a fixed and per-
manent headquarters within or without the City of Bakersfield, shall
pay a license fee based upon the average monthly gross receipts and
sales from the operation and conducting of said business, as shown
by the statement filed by the person, firm or corporation carrying
on, conducting, keeping, managing or maintaining the respective
trade, business, calling, or occuDation, for the quarter next pre-
ceding the date of said statement, as provided in Section 16 of this
ordinance, and in accordaDce with the sched~le provided in Section 45
hereof. '~.q~en such contractors, persons or corporations are operating
partly within and partly without the City of Bakersfield, the gross
receipts within said city shall be deemed to be all the receipts on
business beginning and ending within said City.

All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
be and the same are hereby expressly repealed.
I-HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, on the
day of September, 19S8, by the following vote:
