AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE
PEDDLING AND SALE OF MEAT,
FISH, SHELLFISH, OR AQUATIC
ANIMALS FROM ANY VEHISLE, AND
REQUIRING A PERMIT SO TO DO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
It shall be unlawful for any pepsin, firm or corporation
to peddle, sell, or offer to sell meat, fish, shellfish, or other
aquatic animals from any automobile, wagon, cart or other vehicle,
on the streets of the City of Bakersfield, without first having
procured a permit from the City Health Officer so to do, and unless
said person, firm or corporation shall at all times comply with
each and all of the terms, rules, regulations and requirements of
this ordinance.
SECTION 2.
All automobiles, wagons, carts, or other vehicles to be
used for such sale or peddling of meat, fish, shellfish, or other
aquatic animals must be so enclosed as to be f~ee from dust, dirt,
flies, insects or other foreign or injurious contamination, and
must be thoroughly cleansed daily, and must comply with all sanitary
rules and regulations of the Health Department of the State of
California, and the Health Department of the City of Bakers field.
All implements, trays, and utensils must be kept within the en-
closed portion of said vehicle, and the sa:~e shall be kept thor-
ougP. ly cleaned and in a sanitary condition, and all food products
carried in said vehicle shall be kept from in any way becoming
infected or contaminated. All such vehicles shall be provided
with proper refrigeration, plumbing, drainage and sanitation and
sufficient running water to properly cl. eanse all trays, hives,
saws, cleavers, and other. utensils used in connection with the
sale and ped'~'iing of said food products.

SEC TI ON 3.
Before such permit shall be granted the applicant for
a permit shall file a written application therefor with the City.
Health Officer and exhibit to said Health Officer the automobile,
wagon, cart or other vehicle, ~-nd all of the implements, tools and
utensils intended to be used for such sale or peddling, which
said vehicle, tools, implements and utensils shall comply in every
respect with the foregoing requirements, rules and regulations.
SECTION 4.
Any person, firm, or officer or director of a corporation
violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, or the rules and
regulations set out herein shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed
three hundred ($300.00) dollars, or by imprisonment in the County
Jail for a period not exceeding Hinety days (90) or by both such
fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 5.
All ordinances or paths of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.

I HEREBY CEMTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakers field, on the
21st day of December, lg31, by the following vote:
