BE IT ORDAINED BY TUE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAk~EP~FI~,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Subdivision 6 of Section 16 of Ordinance N~'. 346
New Series, be amended to read ss follows:
6. Contractor.
A contractor within the meaning of this ordina"~ce is
a person, firm, corporation, co-partnership, association or other
organization, .or any combinatior. thereof, who for either a fixed
sum, price, fee, percent;~ge, prcfit or other compensation other
than wages, undertakes or offers to undertake, or purports to have
the capacity to undertake to construct, slter, reDsir, add to, or
iraDrove any building, b.~ghwsy, road, railroad, excavation or other
structure, project, development, or improvement, or to do any par~
thereof; provided, that the ter~r contractor, ~s used in this ord-
inance, shall include subcontractor, but shall net ~nclude any ..--..
one w~o merely furnishes materials oP supplies witho~.t fabricating
the ssme into, or consuminF the some in the performance of the
word of the contractor es ~erein defined, or sole owners of'.~.~roperty
build hg thereon a d~elling house intended fop the use and occupancy
of such o~ner and his f~ily, provided that no more than one of such
buildings shall be so constructed in any calendar year.
For the purpose of tbis ordinance, Contractors s~all be
divided into the following classes:
Class "A" Contractors.
Shall inc_!ude all Contractors who are required by City
0rd~nance to subre.it to special examination ss to -~ual ifi"~ations.and

carrying individual inspection.
Class "B" Contractors:
Shall include all contractors engaged in the construction
or remodeling of any building or improvoment, each with a valuation
of ten thousand ($10,000.00) dollars or more.
Class "C" Contractors:
Shall include all contractors engaged in the construction
or remodeling of any building or impro.vement, each with s valuation
of more than five hundred ($500.00) dollars and less than ten
thousand ($10,000.00) dollars.
Class "D" Contractors:
Shall include all contractors engaged in the construction
or remodeling of any building or improvement, each with a v~luation
of not more than five hundred ($~00.00) dollars, and not less than
twenty-six ($26.00) dollars.
SECTION 2.
That Subdivision 9 of Section 1V of Ordinance No. 548
New Series, be amended to read as follows:
9. Contractors.
For evex7 person, firm or corporation engaged in the
business or acting in the caps. c~t,v of a Class· "A" '~Contractor, the
.licens~ fee shall be one hundred ($100.00) dollars per year, pay-
able in advance for each fiscal yea~, beginning July 1.
For every person, firm or corDoration engaged in the
business or acting in the capacity of a 'Class "B" Contractor, the
license fee shall be fifty (:f~$O.O0) dollars per year, payable in
advance for each fiscal year, beginning Jul'y 1.
For every person, firm or corporation enFsged in the
business or acting in the capacity of s ~]lass "C" Contractor,
the license fee shall be twenty (~20.00) dollars per year, payable
quarterly.
For every person, fi_v,m or corporation engaged in the
business or acting in the capacity of a Class "D" Contractor,
· the. ~[icense fee shall be one dollar ($1.00) for each and every
,errnit taken out;

Provided, however, that any contractor paying-a'.license
fete. in any given class, and who shS'l]'_~'~' r~ceived a permit there-
u~der may perform worh under any classification not requiring a
greater fee.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict

I .~..~REBY CERTIFY that t]!e foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
at a' regular meeting thereof held on the ~ day of~~~,
