AN ORDINANCE CREATING A PLANNING COMMISSION
FOR THE CITY OF BAKEHSFIELD, AND REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 110 NE%F; SERIES OF THE CITY. OF
BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKEHSFIELD,
SECTION 1.
There is hereby created a Planning Commission for the
City of Bakersfield, consisting of nilAe members, six members of
which to be appointed by the Chief Executive Officer of the City
of Bakersfield with the approval of the Council, and the City Engineer
of the City of Bakersfield shall be an ex-officio member, and two
ex-officio members shall be selected by the Council of the Oity of
Bakersfield, one of ~vhom may be a member of said body. Of the
members of the commission first appointed two shall be appointed
for the term of one year, two for the term of two years, one for
the term of three years, and one for the term of four years, from
and after their appointment, respectively. Their successors shall
be appointed for a term of four years. If a vacancy shall. occur
other~ise than by expiration of term it shall be filled by appoint-
ment for the unexpired portion of the term. The terms of the ex-
officio members shall correspond to their respective official
tenure s.
SEC TI ON 2.
Said planning comanission shall have the powers, and be
governed by the rules and regulations as set out in that certain
act entitled "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF OFFICIAL
MASTER PLANS AND THE APPOINTMENT OF PLANNING COMMISSIONS IN CITIES,
CITIES AND COUNTIES, AND COUNTIES; PRESCHIBING THE MANNER OF ADOP-
TION OF SUCH PLANS, PORTIONS THEREOF, A~.'~NDMENTS THERETO AND DOM-
POSITION. THEREOF; PRESCRIBING THE PO~.iERS AND DUTIES OF SUCH COMMI-
SIONS; PHOVIDING FOR TPI%E TRANSFER THEHErO OF THE POWERS AND DUTIES
OB' OTHER PLANNING COMMISSIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE PHEPARATION, ADOP-
TION AND RECORDATION OF PRECISE STREET PLANS; PROVIDING FOR TEE 0'ON-
TROL OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS WITHIN THE LINES· OF STREETS
SHOWN ON SUCH PRECISE STREET PLAES.; PROVIDING FOR THE "LEVY OF A
SPECIAL TAX FOR THE SUPPORT OF 'A PLANNING COMMISSION AND OTHER ACTS
PURSUANT TO THIS ACT AND MAKING CERTAIN EXPENDITURES LEGAL CHARGES
AGAINST THE ~UNDS OF CITI~, CITIES AND COUNTIES, AND COUNTIES AND
REGIONAL PLAA~NING COX'f.iISSIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT BY
CITIES, CITIES AND COUNTIES, AND COUNTIEq, OF REGIONAL PLANNING
COMMISSIONS, INCLUDING ~VO OR MOHE .3ITIES, CITIES AND '~OUNTIES,
OR COUNTIES, OR A POHTION 0R PORTIONS THEREOF, 0R BOTH; MAKING
CERTAIN ACTS MISDEMEANORS; AND REPEALING OTHER ACTS IN CONFLICT
HERE~"~ITH'' and such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by law.
SECTION 3.
Ordinance No. 110 New Series of the City of Bakersfield,
and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
