¥;YEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants
of the City of Bakercfield requires ~he passage of an e~nergency
ordinance extending the time for the payment of city taxes levied
for the fiscal year begi~Luing July l, 193~, and end. ing June ~0,
1930, for the period of sixty days,

OF B~KEHS~IEID, as follows:
SEC TION 1.
The time for the payment of taxes upon all property
secured by real estate which would have become delin.~uent at 8
o~clock P. E. on April SO, 19G~, is hereby extended for a period
of sixty days.
SECTION ~.
The time for co~.:~puting or determining delinquencies and
penalties and the time for publication of the delinquent list of
1932-33 and the addenda thereto, sad for performing ot~er acts
or duties by public officials, which are dependent or based upon
the payment of said taxes on or before April ~0, 193~, is hereby
extended for a period of sixty days.
SECT.'0N 3.
This ordinsa~ce is her~by declared to be an emergency
measure within the meaning of Section 24 of tX'~.e Cha~er of the
~3ity of Bakersfield, State of California, and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property and
safety, and shall take effect im~-ediately.
The facts constituting such necessity are as follows:
There exists throughout the City of Bakersfield and State of Cal-
ifornia econo~:.ic conditions w~aic~- make it difficult for many
property o~vners to pay said installment of taxes; that further
delinouencies at this time will add a tremendous burden on the
property w~lich will have to bear the cost of city government
and it is essential that confidence be restored by giving prop-
erty o~u~ers additio~al time to secure funds to meet t_beir obliga-
tions. This ordinance v~ill aid in acco,r-plishing the necessary
results.
SECTION 4.
This emergency ordinance shall b~ in effect immediately
upon its passage by the Council of the City of Bakersfield.
