AN OHDINANCE PROHIBITING TIlE tviAINTENANCE OR OPERATION

ANY BUILDING OH OUT OF DOORS WITHOUT A PERMIT; DECLARING
MAINTENANCE OR OPEHATION UNLAWFUL, A~D PROVIDING A
PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY TP~E COUNCIL OF TFZ CITY OF BAKEi~.SFIELD,
as fo]l~vs:
SECTION 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, association or
corporation to maintain, operate, connect, or suffer or permit to be
maintained, operated, or connected any loud speaker or sound am-
plifier in such a manner as to cause any sound to be projected out-
s~de of any building or out of doors in any part of the City of
Bakersfield, California, except as may be necessary to amplify
sound for the proper presentation of moving pict~e shows or ex-
hibitions fo~~ the convenient hearing of patrons within the build-
ing or inclosure in which the show or cyd~ibition is given, without
having first procurred a pe~rait from the City Manager, which said
permit shall be granted at the will of the said City Manager upon
application in ~iting therefor, but which said psrmit, when granted,
shall be revocable by the Council of the said City of Bakersfield
whenever any such loud speaker or sound amplifier shall by the
/said Council be deemed objectLonable, and any such permit may be
so revoked with or without notice, c~ with or without a formal
hearing, at the option of the said Council; and in the event of
the revocation of my such permit, the s~Jae shall not be renewed,
except upon application as the first instance.
SECTION 2.
Any person, firm, association or corporation v~o shall
violate any of the provisions hereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof s~sll bs punished by a fine not to exceed
three hundred ( $300.00 ) dollars, or by imprisonment in the
County Jail .for not more than six months, or by both~such
fine and' imprisonment.
SECTION 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expresslyrepealed.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the Ci~ of Bakersfield
