AN EMERGENCY OEDINANCE TO PREVENT THE
DRILLING OF OIL OR GAS ~ELLS ~TITHIN
THE CITY LIMITS.
WHEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants
of the City of Bakersfield require the passage of an emergency ord-
inance to prevent the drilling of oil or gas wells within the city
limits,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to commence the operations for, or to drill an oil and/or gas well.
within the limits of the City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is declared to be an emergency ordinance
for the purpose of protecting the health, safety and welfare of
the inhabitants of the City of Bakersfield and intended as an
interim zone ordinance, and shall take effect immediately upon its
passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
on the 4th day of March, 1935, by the following vote:
