AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS IN
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AS "STREETS OF MAJOR
IMPORTANCE", OTHER THAN STATE HIGHWAYS, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 196, CHAPTER 642, OF
THE STREET AND HIGHWAY CODE.
BE IT 0RDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
The following named streets are hereby designated as "streets
of major importance" within the City of Bakersfield, other than state
highways, in accordance with Section 195, Chapter 642, of the Street
and Highway Code:
1, 34th Street between Chester Avenue and Union Avenue.
2, 24th Street between Golden State Avenue and Union Avenue.
3. 19th Street between Oak Street and Union Avenue.
4. 18th Street between Oak Street and Union Avenue.
Truxtun Avenue between Oak Street and Union Avenue.
California Avenue between Oak Street and Union Avenue.
V. Chester Lane between Oak Street and Oleander Avenue.
VA. Forrest Street between Oleander Avenue and H Street,
VB. 8th Street between H Street and Union Avenue.
8. Palm Street between Oak Street and H Street.
9. 4th Street between H Street and Union Avenue.
10, A Street between Brundage Lane and California Avenue.
ll. Oleander Avenue between Brundage Lane and California Avenue.
12. H Street between Terrace Way and Golden State Avenue.
13. Chester Avenue between Brundage Lane and 34th Street.
14. M Street between 19th Street and Golden State Avenue.
16, Jewett Avenue between Southern Pacific Railway and 34th Street.
16. N Street between Brundage Lane and 19th Street.
1V. Q Street between Truxtun Avenue and 34th Street.
18. Bernard Street between Union Avenue and Baker Street.
19. Flower Street between Union Avenue and Easterly City Limits.
20. Pacific Street between Union Avenue and Easterly City Limits.
21. Niles Street between Alta Vista Drive and Baker Street.
22. Kentucky Street between Union Avenue and Easterly City Limits.
23. East 19th Street between Union Avenue and Truxtun Avenue.
24. East 18th Street between Union Avenue and Haley Street.
26. East Truxtun Avenue between Union Avenue and Brovm Street.
26. East California Avenue between Union Avenue and Washington Street.
27. Union Avenue between 20th Street and 34th Street.
28. Sonora Street between Union Avenue and Sumner Street.
29. Alta Vista Drive between Kentucky Street and Bernard Street.
30, Kern Street between Kentucky Street and Bernard Street.
31o Baker Street between California Avenue and Sumner Street.
31A. Baker Street between Niles Street and Bernard Street.
32. King Street between Kentucky Street and Bernard Street.
33. Gage Street between Kentucky Street and Northerly City Limits.
34. Haley Street between East California Avenue and the Northerly
City Limits.
The numbers herein set opposite the streets are as shown
on "Map of the City of Bakersfield, California, showing State
Highway Routes and Streets of Major Importance", on file in the
office of the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the/~L~ay of November, 1938, by the
following vote:
