Section 1
ThAt Section 1 of Ordinance Number 187 New Series of the City
of Bakersfield entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR TEE'CONDUCT OF PUBLIC
BILLIARD ROOMS, PUBLIC POOL ROOMS, PUBLIC BO~LING ALLEYS, AND PUBLIC
SHOOTING GALLERIES, PRESCRIBING CONDITIONS UPON WHICH LICENSES MAY BE
GRANTED T~EREFOR, PREECRIBING PUNISHMENT FOR TEEVIOLATION OF THE PROVI-
SIONS OF SAID ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NOS. 185, S48, S89 AND
S88 OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA" is hereby amended to read
as follows, to-wit:
SECTION ONE--
It shall be unlawful for the owner, manager, proprietor or
other person having charge of any public billlard room, public pool
room, or public shooting gallery, or other place open to the public
where billiards or pool are played, or target shooting is carried on,
to keep the same open or allow or permit the same to be kept open or
allow any of said games or amusements to be played Or carried on there-
in between the hours of one o'clock a. m. and six o'clock a. m. of
any day, or to allow any person, except such owner, manager, proprietor
or person in charge thereof, or the servants regularly employed in and
about the same to be or remain therein, between the hours aforesaid.
Section 2
There is hereby added to said Ordinance Number 16V New Series
of the City of Bakersfield a new section designated as la as follows,
to-wit:
SECTION ONE-a--
It shall be unlawful for the o~wner, manager, proprietor or
other person having charge of any public bowling alley to keep the same
open or allow or permit the same to be kept open oPoto allow or permit
any person otheP than the owner, manager, proprietor oP person in charge
thereof, or the servants regularly employed in and about the same to be
or remain therein, or to allow any person to bowl within said public
bowling alley between the hours of one o'clock a. m. and six o'clock
a. m. of any day, unless and except a special permit has been obtained
as hereinafter provided.
The Chief of Police of the City of Bakersfield, or inhis
absence any officer who may be carrying out the duties of the Chief of
Police of the City of Bakersfield, is hereby authorized and directed
to issue to the owner, manager, pr proprietor of any public bowling
alley, a special permit to remain open fop a longer time during any
day or days, than is limited above when in his opinion, it is reasonably
necessary and good cause is shown for any public bowling alley to remain
open for such longer time in order to carry on and finish a bowling
tournament.
Section 3
Sections V and 8 of said Ordinance Number 16V New Series
relating to the regulation of public' bowling alleys are hereby expressly
repealed.
