HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 530EMERGENCY 0RDIi~ANCE N0.~O N~'~ SERIES AN E~TERGENCY 0RDINAi,~CE A~'.~NDII~G ORDIN- ANCE NO. 526 NEW SERIES OF THE CITY OF BAIGERSFIELD BY ADDING THERETO A SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 27, PROVIDING FOR ANTI-RABIC VACCINATION OF ALL DOGS V~ITHIN TIlE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. WHEREAS, the health, safety and. welfare of the inhabitants of the City .of Bakersfield require the passage of an emergency ordin- ance providing for anti-rabic vaccination of all dogs within the City of Bakersfield, due to the presence of that certain disease known as rabies among certain animals in the City of Bakersfield, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT 0RDAiNED BY THE COU~!CIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, as follows: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 526 New Series of the City of Bakers- field entitled "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHIN;~ A PUBLIC POIYND, PRESCRIBING THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF T~RE POUND~IASTER, FIXING TPr~ FEES TO BE COLLECTED BY HIM, AND THE DISPOSITION 0F SAME, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING E~ERGENCY 01~DIN~d~ICE N0. 345 NEW SERIES AND EMERGENCY ORDINANCE N0. 352 NEW SERIES 0F THE CITY 0F BAKERSFIELD" be and the same is hereby amended by adding a section thereto to be known as Section 27, to read as follows: Section 27. Every person who owns, possesses or harbors any dog within the corporate limits of the City of Bakersfield shall, within five (8) days after registering said dog and paying the 'fee for such regis- tration as provided for in Section 3 of this ordinance, have said dog vaccinated by a duly licensed veterinary with anti-rabic vaccine in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Health Department of the City of Bakersfield; and every person who owns, possesses or harbors any dog for which a 1939 license has been issued by the -1- City of Bakersfield shall within five (8) days after the effective date of this ordinance have said dog so vaccinated. The cost of such anti-table vaccination, made under the provisions of this ordinance, shall be paid by the City of Bakers- field. SECTION B. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 3. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure within the meaning of Section ~4 of the Charter of the City of Bakersfield, State of California, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and shall take effect immedistely. - -o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the/~ay of January, 1939, by the following vote: City Clerk and E 0 Clerk of the Council of the City of Bakersfield.
