AN EMERGENCY 0RDIEA~CEA~jEI\~ING SECTION 34 OF
ORDINANCE N0. ~02 NEW SERIES 0F THE CITY OF
~AKER~FIFiD, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the parking condition in the business district
of the City of Bakersfield is unsatisfactory and it is deemed
advisable and necessary for the public peace and safety that
the parking regulations be made more flexible,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 34 of Ordinanc'e No. ~02 New Series of the City
of Bakersfield, entitled "AN 0RDI~'~NCE REGULATING TRAFFIC UP0}T THE
MIBLIC STREETS OF TP~ CITY 0F B~ERSFIELD AND ~RPE.~ALIRG ALL ORDIN-
ANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH" be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 3t. Parkin~ Time Limited i__n SDecified Places.
The operator of a vehicle shall not park such vehicle for
longer than one (1) hour in any business district, except where
two (2) hour parking is specifically permitted,-~n ~ny
d~x~c[ between the hours of 8:00 A. M. and ~:00 P. M. of any day
except Sunday, and subject to the special restrictions imposed by
Sections 32 and 33. Signs and curb markings shall be erected and
maintained not more than one hundred fifty (150) feet apart in each
block, designating the provisions of this section.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the
City of Bakersfield~ State of Califd~nia, and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace and safety, and shall
take effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the
City of Bakersfield.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
at a regular meeting thereof, held on the~day of October,
1939, by the following vote:
