SION 10 OF SECTION 17 OF ORDINANCE N0. 512
NEW SERIES, AND ADDING SUBDIVISION 10~ TO
SECTION 17 OF SAID ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 10 of Ordinance Number 512 New Series of the
City of Bakersfield, entitled "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND IMPOSING
MUNICIPAL LICENSES: DESCRIBING HOW AND BY WHOM LICENSES AND PERMITS
SHALL BE OBTAINED: ,MAKING A VIOLATION HEREOF A MISDEMEANOR, AND
PRESCRIBING A PENALTY THEREFOR, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 391
NEW SERIES AND ALL AMENDMENTS THERETO, AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH", be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section lO. License t_Ao b__e Posted and/or Displayed.
Except as otherwise specifically provided in this ordinance,
every person, firm or corporation receiving a license as provided
herein shall post the same conspicuously in his place of business.
All persons who have no fixed place of business and all foot peddlers
must produce and show their licenses whenever requested to do so by
any person who may make demand to see the same· Every person using
a wheeled vehicle upon which a license is required must place and
maintain the license in a suitable container so as to clearly show
the entire face of said license, and shall securely fasten said
container and license in plain sight in the driver's compartment of
the vehicle for which the license is issued·
Every person, firm or corporation or peddler who shall
fall or refuse to post, exhibit on demand, or display, as the
case may be, the license required by this ordinance, shall in addi-
tion to the penalties hereinafter imposed have his license revoked
as provided in Section 6 of this ordinance.

SECTION 2.
That Subdivision 10 of Section 17 of Ordinance Number
~12 New Series of the City of Bakersfield, be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:

For the business of keeping, conducting, managing or main-
taining billlard, pool or bagatelle tables, or bowling alleys, the
sum of Three Dollars ($3.00) per quarter for each billlard, pool,
or bagatelle table, and for each bowling alley or bed.
SECTION 3.
That a subdivision to be known as Subdivision 10~ be
added to Section 17 of Ordinance Number 512 New Series of the
City of Bakersfield, said subdivision to read as follows~

Every person, firm, association or corporation conducting
and/or maintaining on premises owned or leased by him the games
mentioned herein, shall pay the license fee specified herein,
respectively:
For each ray-o-lite machine, and all similar machines
with electrical attachment, and all games operated solely for
amusement, not otherwise specifically heroin provided for, the
sum of Six Dollars ($6.00) per quarter for each such machine or
game.
For each pin game, marble or ball game, using ten or
more balls, the sum of Three Dollars ($3.00) per quarter.
For each pin game, marble or ball game, using four to
nine balls, inclusive, the sum of Six Dollars ($6.00) per quarter.
For each pin game, marble or ball game, using one to
three balls, inclusive, the sum of Eighteen Dollars ($18.00) per
quarter.
For each iron claw, crane, or similar machine, the sum
of Six Dollars ($6.00) per q~arter.
It is the intent herein that the license shall stand in
the name of the actual operator only, and not in the owner or
distributor.
The application for license shall be in writing and on
such forms as are prescribed by the License Collector.
The said license shall be placed on said machine in a
conspicuous place and not removed during the term thereof.
Licenses on machines already issued shall be transferred,
without charge, to the actual operator.
This license fee shall in no way license nor permit the
operation of a machine or game which is unlawful u~er the state
law or local ordinances, nor license nor permit the operation of
a lawful machine or game in an unlawful manner, nor permit the
operation of any machine or game in which the element of chance
predominates.
This licensee fee shall be in addition to any other license
fee paid the City.
No license shall be issued for the operation of such
machines or games within two blocks of public school grounds, nor
for any machines which automatically discharge or pay, or are
capable of discharging or paying counters, slugs, money, checks,
coupons, and/or tickets, whether in a sealed compartment or not.
No license issued under this ordinance shall be transfer-
able except as herein provided.
SECTION 4.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.
