BE IT 0RDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows, to-wit:
SECTION 1.
That Section 12 of Ordinance No. ~12 New Series of the City
of Bakersfield, California, entitled "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND
IMPOSING MUNICIPAL LICENSES! DESCRIBING HOW AND BY V~t0M LICENSES
AND PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED; MAKING A VIOLATION HEREOF A MIS-
DEMEANOR, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY THEREFOR, AND REPEALING ORDIN-
ANCE N0. 391 NEW SERIES AND ALL A~r~.NDMENTS THERETO, AND ALL OTHER
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES I~ CONFLICT HEREV~ITH." be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 12. Dut~ and Power of Police Officers.
All police officers are hereby appointed inspectors of licenses,
and in addition to their several duties as police officers are hereby
empowered, and it shall be their duty, to make arrests for the viola-
tion of any of the provisions of this ordinance.
It shall be the duty of all police officers to examine all
places of business and persons on their respective beats who are re-
quired to pay a license, and to see that such licenses are taken out,
and all police officers shall have and exercise the power to enter,
free of charge, at any time, any place of business for which a license
is required by this ordinance, to demand the exhibition of such license
for the current termby any person e~aged or employed in the trans-
action of such business, and if such person shall then and there fail
to exhibit such license, such person shall be subject to the penalties
provided for violation of this ordinance.
The Chief of Police is hereby directed to carry into effect
the provisions of this section.
HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a regular
meeting thereof held the/3~ay of May, 1940, by the following
