AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE No. ~49 NEW
SERIES OF T_~; CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, BY ADDING
THERETO A SECTI0h,' TO BE KNOWN aS SECTION 6.
BE IT ORDalNED BY T~i COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Ordinance No. 549 New Series of the City of Bakersfield
entitled "AN ORDINANCE ~':GUL~TING VACATIONS, SICX LEAVE TIIvE AND
OTHER LEAVES OF ABSENCE FOR OFFICERS AI4~ EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELDu be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a
section to be known Section 6, which shall read as follows:
Section6.
Leave of absence is hereby granted to any officer or
employee of the City of Bakersfield now or hereafter rendering service
in the armed forces of the State of California or of the United States,
including Reserve Officers' Training Corps, professional, businessmen
and other civilian military training camps, under State or Federal
orders, or instructions, whether by voluntary enlistment or other-
wise, for the period of such service. Should such officer or
employee remain. on such duty or service under orders for periods in
excess of one year, written application to the Council of the City
of Bakersfield for such extension in each successive year shall be
made to the Council, and such leave shall be granted if it shall
satisfactorily appear to the Council that such person is still in
such service in the armed forces. In all cases such leave shall
terminate when such employee returns to duty-with the City; provided,
that such leave shall not extend beyond ninety days after such
officer or employee is discharged or released from the armed forces.
All such leaves of'absence shall be without pay except as otherwise
provided by Charter or Ordinance.
