CO~'~;NICATION CIRCUITS, NECESSARY OR PRO[JR FOR SAr._') PURPOSES.. as follows: BE IT ORD~I3~ED BY THE, COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, Section l_A Vfi~enever in this ordinance the'Words or phrases horeinafter in this section defined are' used, they shall have the respective meanings assigned to them in the following definitions (unless, in the given instance, the context wherein they are used shall clearly import a different meaning): (a) The word "grantee" shall mean Paci'~ic Gas and ~lectric Company, and its lawful s~ccessors or assigns; (b) The '~ord "city" shall mean the City of Bakersfiold, = municipal corporation of the State of California, in its present incorporated form or in anj lator reorganized, consolidated, enlarged or' ~in.,crpor~t~d f~rm; r '(c) The .~crd "streets" shall mean the public streets, ways, alleys and places as the same now or · may hereafter exist within said city~' . (d) The phrase "poles, wires, conduits and appurtenances" shall mean poles, towers, supports, wires, conductors, cables, guys, stubs, platforms, crossarms, braces, transformers, insulators, condu~ts, ducts, vaults, manholes, meters, cut-outs, switches, coLmm~bnication circuits, appliances, attach- ments, appurtenances and any other property located or to be located in, upon, along, acros$,u~de~ or over the streets of the city, and used or useful in the transmitting and/or distributing of electricity; (e) The phrase "construct and use" shall mean to const'~uct, erect, install, lay, operate, mai,~tain, use, repair or replace. (f) The phrase "constitutional franchise" shall moan the right acquired through acceptance by said grantee or its predecessor in estate of the offer contained in the provisions of Section 19 of Articl~ XI of the Constitution of the State of Califo~nia, as said section existed prior to its amendment on October lO, 1911. Section2.
