AN E~ERGE~qCY ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 590 NEW SERIES OF TIE CITY OF BAKERS-
FIELD, CALIFORi~IA.
WHEHEAS, the City Council hereby declares than an emergency
exists for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property,
safety and welfare, which requires the passage of an emergency
ordinance licensing certain businesses within the City of Bakers-
field,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAI~D BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section i of Ordinance Number 590 New Series of the
City of Bakersfield, entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDIkG SUBDIVISIONS
12 AND 24 OF SECTION 17 OF ORDINANCE NO. 512 NEW aERIES OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA" be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 1.
That Subdivision 12 of Section 17 of ORDINANCE No. 512
New Series of the City of Bakersfield, entitled: "AN ORDIEANCE
REGULATING AND IMPOSING ~UNICIPa~ LICEN~ES~ DESCRIBING HOW ANDBY
WHO~ LICENSES AND PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED; MAKIRG A VIOLATION
HEREOFA MISDEMeAnOR, AND PRESCRIBING A ENALTY THEREt:'OR, AND
REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. ~91 NE'.'~ SERIES A~'D ALL A~END~RENT~ THEHETO,
AND ALL 0THEh 0RDINANC~,S OR PART~ OF ORDIR'ANCES IN CONFLICT ERE-
WITH" be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
12. Cleaners_~Dry: For every person, firm or corporation conduct-
ing or carrying on the business of Dry Cleaning, where the plant
for actual work of dry cleaning is maintained outside the city
limits of the City of Bakersfield, but doing business within the
city limits of said City of Bakersfield, the license fee shall be
the sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($BO0.O0) per year, payable in
advance, for each and every delivery vehicle maintained in conduct
of said business. Provided, no license will be issued for a term.
of less than one year from the first day of the current quarter
during which said license is issued.
SECTION 2.
That Section 2 of Ordinance Number 590 New Series of the
City of Bakersfield, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
Section ~.
That Subdivision 25 of Section 17 of Ordinance No. 512
New Series of the City of Bakersfield, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
25~ Laundry. Steam. and/or Linen Supply: For every person, firm
or corporation conducting or carrying on the business of Steam
Laundry, Towel and/or Linen Supply, where the plant for actual
work of laundering is maintained outside the city limits of the City
of Bakersfield, but doing business within the city limits of the
said City of Bakersfield, the license fee shall be the sum of
Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) per year, payable in advance, for
each and every delivery vehicle maintained in conduct of said
business. Provided, no license will be issued for a term of less
than one year from the first day of the current quarter during
which said license is issued.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance is hereby declsred to be an emergency
measure within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the
City of Bakersfield, State of California, and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, property, safety and
welfare, and shall take effect immediately.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
at a regular meeting thereof held on the J~ day of Sep-
