WHEREiS~ the City Council of the City of Bakersfield~
hereby declares that an emergency exists making it necessary to
prohibit the keeping~ storage or possession of gasoline and other
fta~mable liquids within t'he City of Bakersfield~ and that it is
necessary in order to protect public health and safety that said
ordinance become operative imnediately upon its passage.

CITY OF BA[~RSFIELD~ as follows:
S!]CTION I.
Ordinance l~To. 339 Ne~v Series of the City of Bakersfield~
is hereby amended by adding thereto~ a nev~ s.ection to be known
as Section 3 of ChapteF II~ of Ordinance No. 339 New Series~ to
read as follows:
SECTION 3.
It .shall be u~avfful for ~y pers~n~ firm or corI>oration~
..... or any servant~ agent or employee of any person~ firm or corporation~
to keep, store or have, in excess of one (1) .~allon of ~aso!ine~
na~h~. l~erosene or other 'flamuable liquid at any place within the
City Of Bakersfield~ except as may be permitted by this Ordinance
or any applicable State lavF. This section shall not apply to any
gasoline or other combustible lituids to be t{sed to operate motor
vehicles and which is t in tatzs or other receptacles normaliv . ke ~t
attached to such vehicles, v~hen Such taiEs or other receptacles
are so atzZachedo
SECT ION 8 o
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
measure viithin the.meaning of Section 28 of the Charter of the
City of Bakersfields.State of California~ and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public- health and safety'~ and
shall take effect imnediately upon its passage.

was passed and'adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield~
