Leave of absence is hereby granted to any officer or employee of the City of Bakersfield nov: or hereafter rendering service in the armed forces of the United States of America~ or of the State of California~ whether by vo!t~ntary e~istment or otherwise~ for the period of such service. In all cases such leave shall termin- ate when such employee returns to duty with the .City; provided~ that such leave shall not extend beyond ninety days after such officer or employee is discharged or released from the armed forces.
