of the City of Bakersfield be and the same are hereby repealed.

That Section 18 of Ordinance i'To. 502 i,levr Series be amended to re~.d
as follows:
Section 18. Throunh Hish~'~ays.
The followi~ streets and parts of streets are hereby declared to
constitute through highuays for the p~pose of this section, and are
in compliance with Section ~-71 (b) of the Vehicle Code of the State of
California, to-~vit:
Alta Vista Drive bet~veon ]~ernard Street end ~'ientuc~ Street.
Baker Street between Bernard Street and East Califor~a f-venus.
California l~venue between C Street c. nd U~on J~venue.
Chester A~enue bet':~ecn Thirty-fourth Street and 3rundage L~e.
Chester Avenue South betvreen Em~ndage Lane end Terrace ~Jay.
East Eighteenth Street bet~'reen U~on ~venue 'and East Truxton Avenue.

The City Eanager is hereby authorized to place and maintain or
cause to be placed and.maintained upon each and every street intersect-
ing a through street and at or naar the p~operty line of the through
street, stop signs conforming to the requirements of Section 471 (c)
of the Vehicle Code of the State of California.

That a new section to be known as Section 1Ga be added to Ordi-
nance No. ~02 I~u Series of the City of Bakersfield, designating certain
intersections as stop intersections in compliance with Seciion 471 (b)
of the Vehicle Code of the atate of California, said section to read
as follows:
Section 18a. Stop Intersections.
The following intersections are he.toby designated as stop inter-
sections for the purpose of this section, to-wit:
· fdta Vista Drive at Dernard ~treet.

Chester Avenue at Nineteenth Street.
Chester Avenue a~ Twentieth Street
Chester ~venue at TruxtunAvenue.
X Street at Nineteenth Street.
Niles Street at Urdon Avenue.

Pacific Street at Union -~venue.
Sonora Street at East Tl'uxtun Avenue.
Thirtieth Street at Union Avenue.
East Truestun Avenue at Sonora Street.

forming to the requirements of Section 4~1 (c). of the Vehicle Code of
the State of California.

SECTION ~.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 2¢ of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field, State of California, and necessary for the immediate preserva-
tion of .the public peace, property, safety and welfare, ~nd sh~ll t~'~e
effect immediately upon its passage by the Council .of the City of
Bakers£ield.
