~,~IEREAS~ the City Council hereby declares that an emergency
exists for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property,
safety and welfare, which requires the passage of an emergency
ordinance regulating traffic upon the public streets of the City of
Baker,field;
NOW, TPREREFOE~ BE IT 0RDAIi~D BY TE SOUi~CIL OF TEE CITY
0F BalQ~RB~'IELD, as follows:
Section 1.
That Section 3 of Emergency Ordinance Number 63~ New Series

BAKERS~'IELD, CALIFORi~A" be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
Section 3-
That a new section to be Imown as Section 18a be added to
Ordinance i~o. ~02 New Series of the City of Bakersfield, designating
certain intersections as stop intersections in compliance with
Section ¢71 (b) of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, said
section to read as follows:
SECTION 18a. STOP Ii~.~_aBECTI0i8.
The following intersections are hereby designated as stop
intersections for the purpose of this section, to-wit:
.Alta Vista Drive at Bernard Street.
Baker Street at Kentuc!qf ~treet.
Chester avenue at Nineteenth Street.
Chester Avenue at T=entieth Street.
Chester Avenue at TruxtunAvenue.
Chester Lane at Oleander .Avenue.
Forrest Street at Oleander Avenue.
K Street at Nineteenth Street.
~Niles Street at Union Avenue.
Nineteenth Street at ~ Street.
Pacific Street at Union Avenue.
Sonora Street at East Truxtun Avenue.
Thirtieth Street at Union &venue.
East Truxtun Avenue at Sonora Street.
Union Avenue at iTineteenth Street.
Every operator of a vehicle traversing any street intersect-
ing any stop intersection shall stop such vehicle at the place where
such street meets the nearest property line of the stop intersection,
before entering such intersection~ providing the property line is
clearly marked or signposted as required in this ordinance.
The City Nanager is hereby authorized to place and maintain
or cause to be placed and maintained upon each and every stop inter-
section, at or near the property line of such stop intersection~
stop signs conforming to the requirements of Section 471 (c) of the
Vehicle Code of the State of California.
Section 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field~ State of California~ and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public peace, property, safety and welfare, and shall
take effect immediately upon its passage by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield.
