WIEREAS, the United States of america ~'~.i'~ngaged in a state of war with G, ermany, Italy and Japan, and 'l,n.qi~gS, it iS determined by the CoUncil of the C~ of Bakersfield that some~ provision is necessary to provide ~'~' extra compensation for the officers and employees of the City of Bakersfield for the duration of said war and for a period of.six months ther, eafter, and ...[~: W}~tLEAS, such action is deemed necessary to provide for the daily operation of municipal departments, and for the immediate .I p~eservation of the public safety and welfare, NOW, TISqEFORE, DE IT OF~DAIED BY TIE COUNCIL OF THE .CITY 0t.' BAKERSFIELD~ as follows: -+ ~ · 'Section i. That there is .hereby provided for the officers and employees of the Cit~ of Bakersfield~ as set forth and e'nUmer~ted in Section l( of Emergency Ordinance l~ro. 643 New Series, excepting Subdivision thereof (~ity Manager), extra compensation of T. wenty (~20.'00)' Dollars per month to' be paid to such officers at employees begiming July 19~3 for the d~ation of the present war between the United States of America and Germany~ Italy and Japan~ and for a period of six months thereafter~ said extra compensation to be in addition to the compensation provided for by the regiar basic wage rate set forth in said Emergency Ordinance No. 643 New Series. .......... Section 2. ,: That there is hereby provided for the. empZoyees of the City of Bakersfield as set forth and classified inSeCtion 2 of EmergenCy Ordinance No. 6~3 New Series, extra compensation of ten and one-half (1CP~¢) cents per hour for each hour worked, to be paid to such employees beginning July 1, 1943 for the duration of the present war between the United States of America and Germa~:~'italy and Jap~n,~.and: for a period of' six months thereafter, said extra: compensation to be i~' addition to the compensation provided for by the regular basic Wag'e rate set forth in Section2 of Emergency Ordinance' No, Section 3. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an ·emergency me~re ~thin the meaning of Section 2~ of the Charter of the City:Of Bakers- field, State of California, and necessary for the imnedi~e preserva- , . tion of the public safety and welfare, and to provide for the dailY; operaion of municipal departments.
