AN ORDINANCE COi~Ei~flNG TO THE ESTABLISH-
MENT OF CERTAIn{ CITY STREETS AS COUI~TY
HIG1B'~AYS.
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that an emergency
exists for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property,
safety and welfare, which requires the passage of an emergency ordi-
nance consenting to the establishment of certain city streets as county
highways in order to secure certain improvement plans made and pre-
pared for said highways.
NOW, Tk~aEFOHE, BE IT 0RDAII~ED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0F
~Ai~aSFIELD, as follows:
SECTION 1.
The Board of SuperVisors of the County of Kern having by
resolution dated May 22, 1944, declared the following streets within
the City of Bakersfield as county highways, to-wit:
(1) Sonora Street from Kentucky to the intersection
of Union and California Avenues.
(2) Chester Avenue from Terrace Way to 8th Street.
(3) California Avenue from Chester Avenue to Union Avenue.
(4) Union Avenue from 24th to 34th.
the City Council consents, under the provisions of Section 1701 of
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, to the establish-
ment of said city streets as are included in the city limits of the
City of Bakersfield, as county highways.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance
within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field, State of California, and necessary for the immediate preserva-
tion of the public peace, property, safety a~t welfare, and shall
take effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the
City of'Bakersfield.
