CITY OF B~c~SFI~.~ZD, as follows: SL.'CTIOI~ 1. That Ordinance No. 63~ New Series and Ordinance No. 648 New Series of the City of Bakersfield be and the same are hereby repealed. , SECTION 2. That ~ection 18 of Ordinance ~o. ~02 h'ew Series be amended to read as follows: Section 18. Through ill~hrm~s. The following streets and parts of streets are hereby declared to constitute through highways for the purpose of this section, and are in compliance with Section 471 (b) of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, to-wit: Alta Vista Drive between Bernard Street and Kentucky Street. Baker Street between Bernard ~treet and East California Avenue, Avenue, California Avenue between C Street and Union Avenue. Chester Avenue between Thirty-fourth Street and Brundage Lane. Chester ~venue South between Brundage Lane and Terrace Way. East ~ighteenth Street between Union ~venue and East Truxtun Eighteenth Street between F ~treet and Union Avenue. 0 Eighth Street between Chester Avenue and UnionAvenue. F Street between Eighteenth Street and California Avenue. Flower ~treet between'Alta Vista Drive and the easterly city limits. Golden State Avenue between Union Avenue and the northerly city limits. H Street between Golden State Avenue and Brundage Lane. Niles Street between Union Avenue and the easterly city limits. Thirtieth' ~treet between Union Avenue and Garces Circle. East Truxtun Avenue between East Eighteenth Street and the easterly city limits. Twenty-first Street between Oak Street and Golden State Avenue, Twenty-fourth Street between H Street and Golden State Avenue, including H Street. Union Avenue between i~entucky Street and California Avenue. Every operator of a vehicle traversing any street intersecting any through street shall stop such vehicle at the place where such street meets the nearest property line of the through street before entering such through street, provided the property line is clearly marked or signposted as required in this ordinance. The City Manager is hereby authorized to place and maintain or cause to be placed and maintained upon each and every street intersect- ing a through street and at or near the property line of the through street, stop signs conforming to the requirements of Section 471 (c) of the Vehicle Code of the State of California. SECTION 3. That a new section to be known as Section 18a be added to' Ordinance No. 502 New Series of the City of Bakersfield, designating certain intersections as stop intersections in compliance with Sec- tion 471 (b) of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, said section to read as follows: Section 18a. Stou Intersections. The following intersections are hereby designated as stop intersections for the purpose of this section, to-wit: Alta Vista Drive at Bernard Street. Baker Street at XentuclQy Street. Chester avenue at i~neteenth Street. Chester Avenue at Twentieth Street. Chester Avenue at Truxtun Avenue. Chester Lane at Oleander Avenue. Forrest Street at Oleander Avenue. · K Street at Nineteenth Street. Niles Street at Union Avenue. Nineteenth Street at K Street. Pacific Street at Union Avenue. Sonora Street at East TruxtunAvenue. Thirtieth Street at Union Avenue. East Truxtun Avenue at Sonora Street. Union Avenue at 1'~ineteenth Street. Every operator of a vehicle traversing any street intersect- ing any stop intersection shall stop such vehicle at the place where such street meets the nearest property line of the stop intersection, before entering such intersection, providing the property line is clearly marked or signposted as required in this ordinance. The City Bansget is hereby authorized to place and maintain or cause to be placed and maintained upon each and every stop inter- section, at or near the property line of such stop intersection, stop signs conforming to the requirements of Section 471 (c) of the Vehicle' Code o~ the State of C'aiifornia. SECTION 4. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of Bakers- field, State of California, and necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, safety and welfare, and shall take effect immediately upon its passage by the Council of the City of Bakersfield. .......... o0o ..........
