:,ITZ~S, the United ~tates of america is engaged in a state of
v~ar ~:~ith Germany, Italy and Japan, and
~F~|~, it is determined by the Council of the City of Bakers-
field that some provision is necessary to provide for extra compen-
sation for the officers and employees of the City of Bakersfield
for the duration of said v~ar and for a period of six months there-
after, and
'~ZA~, such action is deemed necessary to provide for the
daily operation of mmicipal departments, and for the imediate
preservation of the public safety and ~elfare,

That Section 1 of ~erE~ency 0rdimnce No. 66~ Nevz Series of the

be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
SJ.~J.~PAi- That there is hereby provided for the officers and
employees of the City of B~ersfield~ as set forth and endcrated
in Section 1 of Emergency 0rdimnce i.~o. 662 Nevz ~eries~ except
hubdivision 5~0 thereof (CitF Clerk), a~ Emergency 0rdinance
jo. 671 New Series, extra compensation of Thirty (~30.00) Dollars
per month to be paid to such officers and employees for the dura-
tion of the present xvar between the United otates of America
Germa~ italy and Japan, and for a period of six months thereafter,
said extra compensation to be in addition to the compensation
provided for by the regular basic wage rate set forth in said
Emergency Ordinances Numbered 562 and 671 i~w Series.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an energency measure
within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field, State of California, and necessary for the immediate preserva-
tion of the public safety and welfare, and to provide for the daily
operation of municipal departments, and shall take effect December 12,

I ~REBY CERTIZY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Zakersfiel~, at
a regular meeting, thereof held on the llth day of December, 1944,
