}VHEREAS, a petition was filed with the Council of the
City of Bakersfield on the 4th day of September, 1945, requesting
that certain uninhabited territory therein described be annexed
and included within the incorporated limits of the City of Bakers-
field; and
Va~F2aAS, said petition was signed by the owners of not
less thanone-fourth of the area of the land in such territory,
and representing not less than one-fourth of the assessed value
of such territory according to the last preceding equalized asses-
sment roll of the County of Kern; and
V~4~.REA~, the Council of the City of Bakersfield did on the
24th day of September, 1945, pass a resolution in compliance with
the provisldns of the Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, ~tatutes
of 1939, Chapter 297, specifically describing the boundaries of the
territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of Bakersfield, and
designating such territory by an appropriate identification, and
setting Monday, the 15th day of October, 1945, at the hour of 8 o'clock
P. M., at the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Bakers-
field, State of California, as the day, hour and place when and
where ar~ person owning real property within such territory so pro-
posed to be annexed and having any objections to the proposed
annexation may appear before the legislative body and show cause
why such territory should not be so annexed; and
WHEF~AS, said resolution was published for at least once
a week for two successive weeks prior to said hearing in the The
Bakersfield Californian, a newspaper of general circulation published
in the City of Bakersfield, the municipal corporation, to which it
is proposed to annex such territory; and
Vfi~/~EA8, no written protests were filed against the
proposed annexation by ar~V owner of property within the territory
proposed to be annexed.
NOW, TF~.~.~3RE, ~E IT O~DAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CIT~ OF BAEERSF/.~..tD s as follows:
SECTION 1.
That the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby approves
the annexation and inclusion within the incorporated limits of the
City of Bakersfield, that certain uninhabited territory designated
as a parcel of residential land lying on the north and south sides
of Oregon Street in the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, California~
immediately east of and adjacent to union .Avenue, being more speci-
fically described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the westerly line of Section 20,
Township 29 South, Range 27 East, M. D. B. & M., distant
626.13 feet northerly from the southwest corner of said
Section 20; thence easterly and parallel with the southerly
line of said Section 20, ~17.~2 feet; thence northerly and
parallel with the westerly line of said Section 20, 237.26
feet, more or less, to a point in the southerly line of
Block 9 Alta Vista No. 2, as shown on map thereof recorded
in Map Book 3 at Pages 158 and 159, Records of Kern County,
California; thence westerly along the southerly 'line of
said Block 9 and along the westerly prolongation thereof
to a point in the easterly line of Lot 21 of said Block 9;
thence southerly along the easterly line of Lot 21 to the
northerly line of Lot 22 of said Block 9; thence westerly
along the northerly line of said Lot 22 and along the
westerly prolongation thereof to the westerly line of
said Section 20; thence southerly along the
westerly line of said Section 20 to the point
of beginning.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at a
regular meeting thereof held on the l~th day of October, 194~,
by the following Vote:
