WHERF~.kS, the City Council hereby declares that an emergency
exists making it necessary to provide a license tax for a business
not heretofore provided for.

SECTION 1.
That Subdivision (g) of Subsection ~6 of Section ~ of License
0rdinance No. 681 New Series of the City of Bakersfield, be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follows:
(g) .Any person, firm, corporation or association conducting
or operating any flying horses, merry-go-rounds, ferris wheels, or
other riding devices, when said flying horses, merry-go-rounds,
ferrls wheels or other riding devices are p~t shown with any other
show, game, attraction or carnival as mentioned herein, except where
the same are designed and operated solely for the amusement of children,
shall pay a license tax of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day for each such
riding device, providing that a permit shall first be obtained from
the City Manager to conduct or operate said devices.
SECTION 2.
That there is hereby added to Subsection ~6, of Section ~ of
License Ordinance No. 681 New Series, a new subdivision to be known
as Subdivision (k), said subdivision to read as follows:
(k) Any person, firm, corporation or association conducting
or operating any flying horses, merry-go-rounds, ferris wheels, pony
rides or other riding devices especially designed and operated solely
for the amusement of children, as a permanent business, shall, after
first obtaining a permit to conduct said business from the City
Manager, pay a yearly license tax of Fifty Dollars (~50.00), payable
quarterly.
SECTION 3-
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure
within the meaning of Section 24 of the Charter of the City of Bakers-
field, State of California, and necessary for the daily operation
of a municipal department, and shall take effect immediately upon
its passage by the Council of the City of Bakersfield.
I t~REBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 19th day of November, 1945,
by the following vote:
