.AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDIi~ANCE NO.
693 NEW SERIES .AND A~i~DING ORDINANCE
NO. %69 NEW' SERIES OF THE CITY OF BAK-
ERSFIELD~ BY ADDING THERETO A SECTION
TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 19~-.
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that an emergency
exists for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property,
safety and welfare, which requires the passage of an emergency ordi-
nance pertaining to the regulation of public dance halls in the City
of Bakersfield;
NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT ORD.AINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Ordinance No. 693 New Series of the City of Bakersfield
be and the same is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2.
That Ordinance No. %69 New Series of the City of Bakersfield
be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section to
be known as Section 19~, which section shall read as follows:
19~. Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police, the
City Manager may require the operator of any public dance or public
dance hall to prohibit pass-out or return checks to the patrons
leaving the dance Hall or its anterooms.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance within the meaning of Section 2~ of the Charter of the City
of Bakersfield, State of California, and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, safety, property and welfare.
I HEREBY CERTIH that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield~ at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 13th day of Nay~ 1946, by the
following vote:
